2nd impressions of Cabarete...
Hey friends,
after exactly 2 month in Cabarete I think it`s time for some more impressions and thoughts about my being here.
First of all I want to thank Kitefactory for their support with Kites. They`re doing a fantastic job and produce terrific kites. My 10 metres Thunderbird is one of the best kites I`ve ever flown. It has a superior Lowend and enormous power. Super-stable, comfortable quickness, enormous power in the loops and predictable at any time. The quality is definately premium upper-class. Same for the 6m Hybrid, my naughty little beast, copyright by Batman. Riding on a 6m kite from 27kts is amazing.
Needless to say that the community here at Cabarete is multicultural and various. I meet many people from different countries and backgrounds, but although my English improved throughout the last months, it`s still very hard to express exactly, what I`m thinking especially in personal beliefs, thoughts and emotions. I really miss speaking my mothertongue sometimes.
Thank you Wiebke for making me homesick ;). It was just a small remark aside that she`s really looking forward for the season to start, sleeping in her van, having BBQ on the beaches, in St. Peter, Fehmarn or Denmark. I really miss these experiences and my home Schleswig-Holstein, my friends and Anni. I know where I belong that`s one of my first deeper insights.
Buuuuutttt..... on the other hand I`m here at Cabarete and life´s different. No vans, but motocycles. No wetsuits, but boardshorts. Working on the beach, instead of senseless stuffing of your head with indirect knowledge.
Tomorrow I`ll start working as a volunteer aside my work at Kiteclub for the Dream Project. That`s a project to help Domincan kids by giving them an incentive to go to school to get a better perspective in life.
The story will go on!
Cheers,
Raphael
